A spotlight on the Charles J. Robson Clinic, Toronto Rehabilitation Institute, The Lyndhurst CenterThe Robson "Reader’s Exchange"
Recently we had a difficult question asked by one of our female "regulars" at the Robson Clinic. "Are there new products or ideas for handling the urine container when you need to do a catheterization in bed last thing and during the night?" This person has good volumes of urine and cannot catheterize on the toilet. She said she uses a fairly large size container, and just leaves it at her bedside until morning. Emptying it in the morning also presents a problem since it is difficult to keep this full container "balanced" until she can wheel into the bathroom for disposal of it. We discussed options of using commercially known containers / urinals, however they seemed to be either not large enough, or too awkward to "transport". Anybody have any ideas? Please help by writing to the address below, or fax us, with your ideas. Of course, you may also send us other questions / ideas about bladder management / sexuality that you come across. You may remain anonymous if you wish. I would ask however that you please do not phone in your comments as we are just too busy to be able to handle phone calls of that nature. Also, we cannot return correspondence, however relevant suggestions and / or questions may be used for a reader’s exchange in future articles of the Robson Review.
