Reader's Exchange A reader had the following problem: After night catheterizations, is there a good way to carry the very full container to the bathroom to empty in the morning?Thank you, for your suggestions!Idea #1.
Required Materials: one 2 liter empty plastic pop bottle, electrical tape and string.
Tie the string ends around the rimmed top just below the cap (form a loop for your hand). Tape it tight so it won’t come loose. Once the container is used, twist the cap back on and there’s no way it can spill. The container can be washed with soap and water and used again.
Note: For the female who catheterizes in bed, this may work best if a longer catheter is used rather than a short "female" catheter. The catheter end could be directed into the narrow opening of the plastic bottle. If this is still too short, a catheter extension tube may be helpful (made by Mentor).Idea #2. (Similar idea)
Required Materials: one 2 liter empty plastic pop bottle, cloth material to sew a pouch for it.The material can be sewn to form a bag with a handle that could be secured to itself with Velcro. The full bottle with a tight cap, can be placed in the bag and secured to the arm of your chair for traveling to the bathroom.
